Do you have a demon that steals your speech? A quick look at Mark 9

Do you have a demon that steals your speech? A quick look at Mark 9

Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. But one thing that I can be sure of, is that I don’t always share the gospel when given a chance. Let’s look at the verse I want to focus on:

“Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.” Jesus replied “You unbelieving generation. How long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”

The father says:…”But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

Jesus almost seems offended when he replies with one of the most famous verses in the Bible:”If you can? Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Everything is possible. Even the ability to talk to others about the Son of the Most High God. So I urge you to take up your cross and examine yourself daily. Are you thrown to the ground in defeat when given the chance to share a witness? Do you foam at the mouth, not knowing what to say? Do you become rigid with fear.

Or, do you let the strength of Jesus himself enter you to let his Holy Spirit guide your words? Believe what Jesus says is true, and trust in him.

Pray with me: Father God, please let me have the faith to believe what you say. Please give me the strength needed to be a good witness for you, God. Because I know that it is your desire for all to be saved. Please, Father, help me to be more like your Son Jesus when he lived here on earth. In Jesus Precious and Holy Name, Amen
